The National Agency's principal task is to conduct visits at places of detention, as determined in Article 4 of the OPCAT, and to make recommendations aimed at the improvement of the treatment and conditions of persons deprived of their liberty and to prevent torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
